Winter, so soon? Get Ready with a Honey Do List from Greenland Volunteer Fire!
Chimney Inspection & Cleaning If you use a chimney to vent your heating system (oil, gas, coal) or for a wood or coal stove, get it inspected by a professional before winter arrives. Avoid a chimney fire! Have E.D.I.T.H. stop by - Exit Drills In The Home While the weather is still nice, practice a home fire drill during the day and at night. Make sure everyone meets at the same location. Remember to call 911 after you exit the home. Heating System Cleaning & Inspection Be on the safe side, have your heating system cleaned and inspected by a professional this fall. Change the batteries in your home’s smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Don’t forget to test them monthly! Place 4 inch or larger reflective house numbers on both sides of your mailbox. It’s easier for us to find you in an emergency, especially at night!
