Thermal Imaging Camera
Adding your donations
to a grant, the Greenland Volunteer Fire Department now owns a Bullard T3MAX Thermal
Imaging Camera (TIC). Thank you for supporting us!
How does a TIC work?
The TIC detects changes in surface temperature. For example, if you
were using your kitchen stove and turned off the burner, the burner would
still be warm. The TIC is able to detect the warm burner from a
distance.
How will the Greenland Volunteer Fire Department
use the TIC?
- detect concealed fires - a fire may be smoldering
unseen between two walls
- conduct a search to rescue people in dense smoke or
in a burning building - some people may be injured or unconscious
- identify the impact of the fire on a structure and
manage fire personnel appropriately - are the joists are burning, is the
source behind a wall, etc.
- locate people who are lost - TICs can also be used to
scan wooded areas to search for missing persons
