June 10, 2006 - Brentwood Drill Yard, Firefighter I Practical

Firefighter I Certification

Greenland Volunteer Fire Department, participated with other local departments in a State endorsed Firefighter I Certification program in 2006.  This is an intensive training program containing lectures, hands-on training, homework, written exams and practical skills exams.  The program takes 6 months to complete and trains new department members fire fighting, safety and rescue techniques.  For program details, visit the New Hampshire Department of Safety website.

GVFD is proud of our four newest members on the department, Jim Tomkinson, Brian DiPietro, Chris Pearl and Eric West who are on the verge of completing this program.  Completing this program is a significant undertaking, especially for volunteers.

On June 10th, the Firefighter I class completed a practical training session at the Brentwood Drill Yard using a burning trailer.

A fire is started inside a donated trailer using hay and other combustibles.
